Tire Kingdom interior design concept by Cliff Powell.

Interior Design Concept

My team was tasked with developing a new concept that pushed the envelope of design for Automotive Service Centers. A futuristic feel and a more customer-centric approach were needed to set a new standard for TBC's corporate brands Tire Kingdom, NTB, and Merchant's Tire. Most stand-alone tire and service centers are filled with display tires and have an outdated image that has not changed in decades.

I took outside inspiration from non-automotive service facilities as well as dealerships. The challenge was creating a large open feel to accommodate waiting customers as well as sales and service associates in an 857 square foot area. The programming also needed to contain static and digital displays, transaction counters, kid's area, refreshment station, business/study area, and vehicle status monitors.

To achieve this different flooring materials were used to create rooms within rooms. It kept the plan open while separating spaces. Red was used for accents and excitement as it is also one of the brand colors. I felt that the transactions counters and business stations needed to have a modern look so I designed custom fixtures.

I left the firm before I was able to see my design come to fruition. However, two years after the design I found out that my design was implemented in the construction of their flagship facility in Palm Beach Gardens. A majority of my design intent was achieved including my design for the sales transactions counters. Below are renderings of my design concept as well as photos of the completed project.
